Mahindra Thar Facelift Spied: Probable Upgrades & Features

Alright, fellow adventurers and off-roading enthusiasts! Your favourite car blogger is back with some seriously exciting news, and this time, it’s about a legend that’s about to get even better. Yes, you guessed it – we’re talking about the Mahindra Thar!

Fresh spy shots of the Mahindra Thar facelift have just surfaced, and let me tell you, it’s got us all buzzing with anticipation. Our beloved rugged SUV seems to be getting some significant upgrades, both inside and out, keeping its core spirit intact while adding a dash of modern pizzazz.

Here’s the juicy stuff from what the spy shots are revealing:

1. A Fresher Face (and Rear!):

While the Thar’s iconic silhouette is largely retained (thank goodness!), the facelift is bringing some noticeable changes to the front and rear. Expect a revised front fascia, possibly inspired by the larger Thar Roxx. This means we might see a new grille design, tweaked headlamps (potentially with new LED elements and DRLs), and redesigned bumpers. The rear is also expected to get some attention, with revised taillights and a new bumper. Basically, it’s going to look even more butch and ready for anything!

2. Interior Revolution (Triple Screen, Anyone?):

Now, this is where it gets really interesting! The spy shots hint at some substantial upgrades to the Thar’s cabin. While the “triple-screen setup” buzz is specifically for the XUV700 facelift (which is also super exciting!), the Thar facelift is certainly not being left behind. We’re talking about a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system (a big jump from the current 7-inch unit!) that’s likely to come with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. This alone is a game-changer for those long road trips and off-road escapades.

Beyond that, expect more premium touches like a new steering wheel, possibly borrowed from the Thar Roxx/Scorpio-N, and power window switches moving to the doors (hallelujah!). There’s also a strong possibility of a fully digital instrument cluster, automatic climate control, and even a wireless phone charger. Basically, the interior is going to feel a lot more modern and comfortable without sacrificing its rugged charm.

3. Same Heart, More Smarts:

Good news for those who love the Thar’s performance! It looks like Mahindra will be retaining the same set of capable engines – the 1.5-litre diesel, 2.2-litre diesel, and 2.0-litre turbo petrol. So, you can expect the same power, torque, and off-road prowess we’ve come to admire. Both manual and automatic transmission options, along with RWD and 4×4 configurations, are expected to continue.

4. Enhanced Features and Safety:

Beyond the screens and design tweaks, we can anticipate more features trickling down, potentially including things like a 360-degree camera, ventilated front seats (a blessing in our Indian summers!), and perhaps even 6 airbags as standard. While ADAS for the 3-door Thar is less certain, these additions will definitely make the new Thar an even more compelling package.

My thoughts? The current Thar is already an icon, but these updates are exactly what it needs to stay ahead of the curve and offer a more refined experience without compromising its go-anywhere capabilities. The focus on a more modern interior, especially that larger screen, is going to make it even more enjoyable for daily use.

We don’t have an official launch date yet, but given the frequency of these spy shots, it feels like it could be arriving sooner than later, possibly by late 2025 or early 2026.
