Maruti Ertiga.! I’ve travelled in it a couple of times and I liked the comfort and ease of 1st and 2nd row. now this facelift says it has something to offer to third row. lets check..
For many Indian families, especially those navigating the glorious middle path of life, it’s not just a car; it’s a trusty steed, a mobile living room, and often, the silent witness to countless “Are we there yet?” choruses.
While other brands might be busy trying to out-glam each other with grand looks and ultra-feature-oriented 7-seaters, the Ertiga, in my humble opinion, truly fits the bill for the everyday customer. It’s got that sweet spot of practicality, space, and affordability, proving that sometimes, the ultimate family car doesn’t need to break the bank or require a red carpet entrance.
So, when news of the 2025 Ertiga facelift dropped, my ears perked up. What magic had Maruti woven this time to enhance our beloved MPV? I’ve been through the changes, and for a fan of this car, this facelift is a much-welcomed refresh. You can absolutely go for it!
Here’s a quick rundown of what’s new, and why even seemingly small tweaks can make a big difference:
2025 Maruti Ertiga Facelift: The Key Upgrades
- Safety First (and Second, Third… up to Sixth!):
- 6 Airbags Standard: Yes, you read that right. All variants now come with six airbags. This is a massive step up and truly heartening to see as standard.
- 3-point seatbelts and headrests for all seats: Enhanced safety for all occupants, meaning even the often-neglected middle passenger in the second row gets proper support. No more just a lap belt and a wish!
- Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS): Available in the top variant. A handy feature for peace of mind on those long family trips.
- Interior & Comfort (Where Every Millimeter Counts!):
- Increased Length: The MPV is now 40mm longer! Now, practically speaking, that’s just four centimeters. But let me be hopeful here: even that four centimeters should change the way one can fit in the last row. Every bit counts when you’re packing in an entire family (and their baggage, real and metaphorical!).
- Improved AC System: Rear AC vents are now cleverly located behind the front passenger armrest (replacing the old roof-mounted blower). Plus, there are now 3rd-row specific controls and vents. No more fighting over who gets the cool air in the back!
- More Charging Ports: Multiple USB-C fast charging ports are added for 2nd and 3rd-row passengers. Because in the age of screens, a dead phone is a family emergency.
- PM 2.5 Air Filter: For improved cabin air quality. Breathe easy, literally.
- Exterior Touches (Subtle but Welcome):
- New Roof Spoiler: A subtle exterior update, adding a dash of sportiness without being over-the-top.
- Subtle Design Tweaks: Refined exterior styling with updated grille, LED headlamps (likely with integrated DRLs), and new alloy wheel designs in some variants. It’s not a complete redesign, but enough to make it feel fresh.
- Engine & Performance (Reliability Stays!):
- No Changes to Powertrain: Continues with the same reliable 1.5L K15C petrol engine with mild-hybrid technology and CNG options. And yes, for a fan like me, the mileage figures remain impressively good. Consistency is key!
- Pricing (The Minor Nudge):
- Slight Price Hike: Prices have increased by approximately ₹15,000 across variants. Given the safety and comfort upgrades, this feels like a fair trade.
The Verdict: Still the Ultimate Family Ride?
In an era where cars seem to be getting more complex and often, more expensive, the Ertiga holds its ground as a sensible, reliable, and now, even safer choice.
The 40mm length increase might seem like a small number, but in the tight confines of a third row or the battle for second-row legroom, even a few centimeters can feel like miles.
And my personal favorite second row? With that comfortable seat and a proper headrest for the middle passenger, it’s a game-changer.
The fact that it still comes in CNG, and offers excellent mileage in petrol, just cements its status as the “ultimate family car” for the middle class. Maruti didn’t try to reinvent the wheel, but rather, perfected the formula.
It’s practical, it’s safe, and it understands the real-world needs of an Indian family. So, yes, for fellow Ertiga enthusiasts, this facelift is indeed much welcoming. Go for it!
